Our donor gathering was held at our new CancerLink Centre in Kwai Chung and the workshop topic was DIY pressed flower phone case and keychain. Before the workshop started, cancer fighters Wai Mei and Garfield shared their stories of how cancer had impacted them. Their “never give up” attitude brought positivity to every single one of us. On that day, no one went home empty-handed.
Our donor gathering was held in CancerLink Centre, Kwai Chung. First, cancer fighters Sheung Sheung and Lui Fong shared their cancer journeys with us. Everyone gained a better understanding of the challenges they’d faced and how the donations had helped them through our free cancer care services. Our instructor Calson, a registered physiotherapist, arranged a workshop featuring exercises to release sciatica and finger joint pain. He demonstrated how to correct postural mistakes with strengthening and stretching exercises. Calson also taught participants exercises to relieve back, hand and tendon pain, which they could do at home. Lastly, the participants held their massage balls for this picture. Massage balls can be used to increase the effectiveness of the whole exercise.
Cancer survivors Garfield and Wai-Mei met with the group and shared their personal cancer journeys. After this, our tutors demonstrated balloon twisting skills and let all participants have a try. Though everyone was very focused during this activity, participants didn’t hesitate to jump in and help each other when needed. By the end of the gathering, everyone was happy with their unique piece. It was an afternoon well spent, with laughter all round.
