Palliative Care in Cancer
Adjusting to life with cancer is possible

We are committed to supporting cancer survivors to live a high-quality life during and beyond cancer.

Palliative care, also known as supportive care, is an approach to relieving the symptoms caused by cancer. It improves the quality of life for people living with cancer through a holistic approach to managing pain and the side effects of treatment. This medical discipline works to alleviate the physical, psychological and social distress caused by cancer. Contrary to popular belief, cancer palliative care is not just for patients with untreatable or terminal cancer but can be used to improve the quality of life at all stages of the condition.

Our Cancer Fund Support Centres provide services that both assist people to navigate palliative care in Hong Kong and complement their cancer palliative care treatment. These include:

  • Pain Management Workshops

  • Embracing Hope (programme for relapsed patients)

  • Knowing Palliative Care Services Workshops

  • Meaning-Centred Therapy (for patients with advanced-stage cancer)

This medical discipline works to alleviate the physical, psychological and social distress caused by cancer.
