Lung cancer treatment options include Surgery, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Targeted Therapy, and Immunotherapy.
When recommending a treatment plan, doctors typically consider multiple factors, such as the patient’s age and overall health, the type of lung cancer, the size and location of the tumour, and the cancer stage, etc.
If the tumour is small and has not yet spread, the common approach is to first perform surgery to remove the tumour, followed by other treatments depending on the situation.
For Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), some patients may use specific targeted drugs if certain genetic mutations are present (such as EGFR, ALK, ROS1, etc.). Conversely, patients with Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) rarely have these genetic mutations, so targeted therapy is seldom used. Therefore, treatment for SCLC mainly focuses on chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy.
Since every patient’s situation is unique, even within NSCLC, treatment plans can vary significantly based on the stage, genetic results, and physical condition. If you have any questions regarding your treatment, you should proactively ask your doctor for clarification.
