Opened in November 2006, this is a pilot collaboration project between Hong Kong East Cluster of the Hospital Authority and Hong Kong Cancer Fund to achieve the best continuum of care for patients with incurable cancers. The centre is an exemplary model of integrated multi-disciplinary service, because not only is the service jointly managed by clinical oncologists and palliative physicians together with nursing and allied health disciplines, but there are also education and programmes on Traditional Chinese Medicine and alternative therapies. Together the centre provides a full spectrum of physical, rehabilitative, psychosocial, and spiritual services to empower patients and their families to attain a most positive quality of life.
Services include a Palliative Care Clinic, daycare, rehabilitative therapies, homecare skills, supportive therapies, bereavement services, telephone nursing consultation service and equipment loan services. |
