Quote from member : When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2000, I could not accept my fatebear the fact. I lived everyday in pain and became very depressed, depressed; I never broke the news to anyone else except my immediate family. In that time, we knew nothing about cancer, and we did not know where to turn to for information or guidanceget information from. I had no idea how cancer was treated and blindly accepted my treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy as advised by the doctor.even after discussed with doctors, they gave me no choice but being tortured by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. I was upset and doubtfulfelt full of uncertainty.to all of them. My cancer was only in an early stage, isn't surgery a better option with less side effects? I felt angry and powerless.
It was not until I came across the staff at CancerLink did I start to feel better.I did not feel any better until I came across CancerLink. Social workers have empowered me with information and guidanceand comforted me,, peers from Orchid Support Group have cared and helped me through the pain. I remembered a peer once said to me, "No matter which treatment you have been given, the most important thing is to cure youget better! Every treatment has its own advantagesmerits and disadvantages, so you really don't have to get annoyed!"
I felt somuch relieved after receiving the guidance and support from CancerLink, and soon became a volunteer after then, because I to hope to pay back and contribute myself to other patients. The Orchid Support Group was established in 2005.We, it organizes health talks that provide practical information to patients, as well as providing the opportunity to meet and share experiences with fellow peers.
We can also have the chance to meet and share with peers by joining its recreational activities. Last time I was at CancerLink in Central, I met my attending doctor was giving a talk there to patients and their families, so I seized the at CancerLink Central when he gave a talk there, therefore I seized the opportunity to ask for more advices and consultations from him.CancerLink is great for receiving information and guidance on your diagnosis.
I am happy that the Orchid Support Group is here and ready to help, so those gynecological cancer patients and their families know where to go to seek help and support. We are here to help.

Thereforeo achieve my goal, I soughteek help from CancerLink Wong Tai Sin, asking them to arrange a meeting with ann ovariany cancer survivor for me.
