Quote from member :

Six years ago, I rarely came to Wong Tai Sin since I lived far away in Kwai Chung. I was just an ordinary housewife with a routine but peaceful life. However in summer 2000, I felt sick for a long time and was eventually I was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer. After 38 rounds times of radiotherapy, I thought mythe treatment was over, but my doctor told me to come back to the hospital for regular follow-up regularlys. I fell into an abyss and lived everyday in pain, until however I came across CancerLink, a place for people like me with cancer to seek information and support Service Centre. There are many patients support groups in CancerLink, and I joined the New Horizon Club and New Creation Club, what is now known as the the former clubs of Hong Kong Pioneers Mutual Support Association, to meet people undergoing the same type of treatment as me, immediately.

This may sound strange but I feel grateful to have experienced cancer, because I would not have a chance to explore my horizons and gain a new perspective onf life I had Ive not got cancer. I am happy to have joined the big family of CancerLink, andI amglad to know more from their health talks and recreational classes. AtIn CancerLink, I can share my feelings with social workers and fellow peers.,Tthey are patient to listen and encourage me to re-examine myself, providing encouragement when I¡¦m feeling low. I have met so many friends from different support groups, who are greatly supportive and help me byfulenough to sharinge their stories and experience. To help new cancer patients who were once like me, I decided to become a I am a volunteer, and pass on my experience to give them hope and strength. now, being able to help others like myself is joyful.

It is cancer that brings us altogether. If there is no support groups like the Hong Kong Pioneers Mutual Support Association didn¡¦t exist, many people would be facing cancer alone.Thank goodness for CancerLink and CancerFund, who ensure all of us have the support and care to overcome the challenge of cancer. how can we peer meet each other?
