No one should ever feel alone when they have been told they have cancer, and thus CancerLink facilitates a comprehensive support group network to provide tailored support and assistance to people with different types of cancer. Peers fully understand the impact of cancer, and this is why the support group network is such an important part of the recovery process. CancerLink leads 14 cancer patient support groups, which touch the lives of over 17,000 people.
Peer support is important for experience sharing and keeping up hope. Now there are two residential support groups - Yin Hong Club (Breast cancer patients' support group) and Kin Lok Club (NPC patients' support group) at CancerLink Central. They offer peer support through sharing sessions and orientation meetings.
CancerLink Central also hosts an "English-speaking cancer patient support group" for non-Chinese-speaking people in Hong Kong. The group meets regularly. For more information please contact 3667-3000. |
