The oncology wards and radiotherapy rooms of hospitals are changed from gloomy and depressing units to pleasant places through redecoration. New soft seatings in corridors and mobile geriatric chairs equipped with meal trays were acquired for the oncology wards in Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Installation of TV/Video sets at the out-patient waiting area showing cancer related videos for patients to gain vital information while waiting. All these have made hospital visits less frightening.

The Ambulatory Cancer Care Centre of Prince of Wales Hospital is open recently, which is funded by the Hong Kong Cancer Fund with matched funding by the Hospital Authority. The Centre provides a pioneer model for extended hour day-hospital cancer care in Hong Kong, which allows patients to spend more quality time at home with their families.
